About Us

My Name is Dustin Roberts, and I launched this website as a side project back in 2003. What started as a side focus has now fully consumed my hobby. That is, my R2-D2 collection is now first and foremost in my collecting habits. I try to keep up with it all by archiving it here for my own benefit, and hey, if you get any use out of it then that's cool too. The site may resemble Rebelscum.com, only because I am a content manager there, and also at TheForce.net.

Bryan Simmons helps maintain the website while at the same time contributing content from his extensive R2-D2 prototype collection. R2-D2 was the first toy character he ever owned, and he's been collecting R2 protos since 2001. He's way more than qualified folks. Most of Bryan's contributions can be found right here at Chrome Dome Proto's!

Who Dat?
Over the years I've made many friends in the Star Wars collectible community and many of them share my same goal for collecting R2-D2 memorabilia. While the majority of the images housed here in the Data Bank are of items from my own collection, many come from volunteers who wanted to help out and make this a better place for all to enjoy. Below are their names along with links to their own websites. A special thanks from me goes out to all these folks who've helped me along the way.

Philip Wise
Special thanks goes out to Philip Wise for all his support over the years. His dedication to the hobby and the people within the community through his collector orientated Rebelscum.com should never be overlooked. Philip provides the server space for this website and the news engine software for posts via Collectinghq.com.

Chris H.
Chris H. has kept me laughing over the years with his crazy Toshistation.com website. Chris is also inspires me with his ever evolving creative web design and graphics. He has also lended his talent to this website by designing our link banner and button!

Kenny Baker
Kenny Baker is the man who actually brought R2-D2 to life in the original Star Wars trilogy. Without Kenny, R2-D2 would not be as huge of a pop culture icon as he is today! Visit Kenny's website here.

Don Bies
Don Bies, Chief Droid Wrangler from LFL brings R2-D2 to life in all of the Star Wars prequels. Visit Don's website here.
