Here's a look at the new 2009 Saga Legends R2-D2 with electronic sounds. Same ol' R2-D2, just new packaging. I guess if I had to pick an R2-D2 for annual reissues this would be the one. He comes with light and sound, what better way to drive parents insane?! It sure beats the spin and click head we had as kids though. The Saga Legends collection basically helps keep popular core characters on the pegs, for kids of all ages.
While at Star Wars Fan Days 2, I attended a movie prop collecting panel by Gus Lopez. Check out some of the cool R2-D2 movie prop pieces he's got in his collection. I'm jealous, but thankful I was able to handle and view these great items up close. Enjoy the photos!
I almost missed this one because of how similar the card backs are for both the Star Wars Legacy Collection and The Clone Wars action figures. Here it is in all its repackaged glory, R2-D2 with electronic sounds. You might remember this figure from several earlier releases. Hasbro is definitely getting their money out of this mold, as it has become the definitive annual R2-D2 release.
I finally got my hands on a UGH R2-D2! This special chase figure is part of the Ultimate Galactic Hunt promotion: a series of 12 variant figures. It is the same exact figure but the packaging has gold foil on it and the exclusive coin is also gold.
From Rebelscum.com: "Rebelscum reader Joe Macudzinski writes in to alert variation hunters of a purple-hued blast effect he found of R2-D2 while searching for new figures. Although Joe found 4 like this, there's no word if this is an intentional change, or an error similar to the Holographic Obi-Wan Kenobi from last year."
The very first wave for the 2007 30th Anniversary Collection has shown up online and our main man R2-D2 is in it! Figure #04 - R2-D2 is from the fiery scene aboard General Grievous' ship in Episode III where R2 foils two Super Battle Droids impeding his mission to save his Jedi buddies.
Just when you thought you had enough R2 to sustain The Saga Collection, up pops this sub-collection series of old crap re-hashes. Dubbed "The Episode III Heroes & Villains Collection" these 12 select figures from the Revenge of the Sith line are nothing more than the same figures in new packaging. What's gonna kill me the most is having to get all six variations because just like the regular Saga Collection figures, these too are packaged with a random hologram figure!
My fiance Shannon finally tracked down this super cool video game controller by Jakks Pacific. This item was shipped two per case (I believe) along with the Darth Vader version. This item retailed around $20 give or take and was released shortly after the theatrical release of Star Wars Revenge of the Sith in 2005. The official Star Wars website has a nice article on these along with some screen shots of what the actual video games included within look like.
Just playing catch up here on some items that were available around the holidays. This mug could be found at Target or Toys "R" Us for around $9.99. You can expect to pay between $10 - $20 US for this on eBay.com.
Here is the latest R2-D2 Burger King Kids Meal toy. This R2-D2 has a button on his back that you push to project an image of Princess Leia from within! Enjoy the pics!
